Kakinada Kaja
This is my ode to the Kaja. Kakinada Kaja, as they’re called, alluding to where they're from, and where I was born, are intricately layered traditional flour-based sweets. Soaked in sugar syrup, their crunchy, juice-filled layers crack open with an intimate familiarity of belonging like none other. They are a rare sight to be treasured - impossible to find outside Andhra Pradesh, let alone come all the way to the streets of Berlin.
