Pantham is the studio practice of Sarmishta Pantham, experience designer and art director working at the intersection of digital design, handcraft and culture.
Sarmishta’s core interest lies in celebrating culture and its complexity through visual language and experiential metaphors, playing with ritual and the hyper-particular in human nature.
Over the last 15 years, Sarmishta has worn the hats of an Apparel Designer, Pattern Designer, Brand Designer, Strategist, Researcher, User Experience Designer, even Food Entrepreneur, for brands like Levi's, eBay, Toyota, Blinkist and Marley Spoon in India, the United States and Berlin– nurturing her love for making, while gaining rich experience in translating business strategy into successful creative concepts. Originally trained in fashion design, followed by graphic design and then user experience design, Sarmishta’s work takes a trans-disciplinary approach that puts the essence above all; going beyond any specific genre to find whatever object, environment, or experience most effectively and appropriately addresses the audience.
Over the years, Sarmishta has built up a roster of talented individuals that she collaborates with including researchers, specialist designers and photographers to bring out the best of projects.
Alongside her design practice, Sarmishta also runs Handful – a playground for exploring food as a medium of expression, a cultural and political catalyst and at other times can be found researching traditional Indian delicacies for her pop-up dinner series, Indian Standard Time.
